Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
To accept the people
I cannot change,
Courage to change the one I can,
And the wisdom to know it's me.

If only I could gather up a portion of the time I've spent
on trying to change those around me -
I would indeed be rich in years.
And in my quest to control
I was unsuccessful only 100% of the time...
The tattoo is the chinese symbol for "courage to change"

Roberta, I really like this one, especially because it caught me by surprise and thus made me think about what it's saying. Only thing I might add would be the prayer for God also to grant me the wisdom to know when I need to change and when I need to be at peace with myself the way I am. -

If only we could always see people the way Jesus does...and preoccupy ourselves with including them, loving them, caring for them... We would be shocked at who we became in a few years.

It's maddening to see who I become when things don't go my way!

God, I want to become preoccupied with honoring and caring for people!

"Then those 'sheep' are going to say, 'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.' - Matthew 25:37-40 The Message

12 step groups use this prayer and it's a good way to live by.

I like your new picture!

there was this this club in B******* that brought me to this prayer - it was called the 449 club based on page 449 of the Big book of AA. This page was on acceptance of self, others and situations. This club and its members and meetings, as well as you, brought me to where I am today, (not to mention Seinfield's episode where George's dad would scream " SERENITY NOW " I would use it several times at my old job!
Love you
