The Thread you Follow

There's a thread you follow. It goes among things that change. But it doesn't change. People wonder about what you are pursuing. You have to explain about the thread. But it is hard for others to see. While you hold it you can't get lost. Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old. Nothing you do can stop time's unfolding. You don't ever let go of the thread.

I'm intrigued, but lack understanding. What is the thread?

poetry is open to interpretation so the thread can mean anything-family/faith/love/whatever....
here's what i hear.....

do you recall the story of the woman with the issue of blood who reached out and touched the hem/fringe of jesus' robe? she was hanging by a thread & that's all it took for her to be healed -

& sometimes that's all we have to hold onto...a mere thread. sure we have days when are faith seems robust and we can take on the world but there are those other days when we're just hanging on by a thread....

and that thread runs through all of us - we are all connected in some way as humans loved by God......

I forwarded this to my sister. She is in Alaska helping her daughter and her family; her daughter is in the final, terminal stages of cancer. She is 32.

You do not know how far some of these tidbits go or how much they do.

Thank you.
