Hi Roberta. Your post reminded me of this little verse ( author unknown).. There once was a lad named Narcissus Who thought himself very delicious. So he stared like a fool At his face in a pool, And his folly today is still with us. And this pithy comment comes from a book I found from many years ago "Disarming the Secular Gods" by Peter C Moore which is wrthy of reflection ( excuse the pun !).. "Narcissism is not just a personality disorder. It is a cultural phenomenon that permeates our entire society. Emotional illnesses are culturally induced and reinforced, So when you understand the neuroses prevalent at any given time, you then have insights into the problems which in milder forms plague the culture as a whole."
