Many depictions of the life-giving event that occurred
at Pentecost craft the Holy Spirit as a tiny flame
resting on the top of the disciple's heads,
but this artwork by Estella Canziani draws us into
a wild, all-encompassing, uncontainable Spirit who
filled every ligament, every vein of those present.
No wonder some thought they were drunk!
Gotta have me some of that!
A Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Breathe in me O Holy Spirit
that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me O Holy Spirit
that my works, too, may be holy;
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit
that I love but what is holy;
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit
to defend all that is holy;
Guard me then O Holy Spirit
that I always may be holy.
