Advent Prayer by Henri Nouwen

Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness,
send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!"  Amen.

from the Catholic Family Prayer Book, published by Our Sunday Visitor, 2001.

Thank you, Roberta!

Thank you so much for this prayer, Roberta.

I will print it out, place it with my advent devotions, and add it to my prayers each evening. It seems like just the EXACT prayer I need this year.

Blessings to you this Advent season!

Beautiful! Thank you; I am going to put it on my blog, too, with reference to your blog.

Oh, I read that over at Jan's place but didn't realize it was by Henri Nouwen. I should have recognized his style! Classic.
