prayer of st. brendan

Help me to journey beyond the familiar
and into the unknown.
Give me the faith to leave old ways
and break fresh ground with You.

Christ of the mysteries, I trust You
to be stronger than each storm within me.
I will trust in the darkness and know
that my times, even now, are in Your hand.
Tune my spirit to the music of heaven,
and somehow, make my obedience count for You.

Oh, I really like this one! I did an historical romance about Brendan once upon a time, and I knew who it was even if you hadn't said, having read the Journey of St. Brendan Navigator. The artist is amazing. He put the curragh on a bream (it was purportedly a whale where they camped awhile) and gave them ROman tonsures (Irish had their own tonsure), but look at the painter ring on the bow and the fore and stern castles. The guy knew his boats even if it was stylized.

Oh, and the prayer is nice, too

blessings on you, lovely lady!

How profound. Thank you. I've been praying this prayer, albeit not even a fraction as eloquently, since last fall. Makes me well up with tears of joy at how Christ's sovereignty and the Holy Spirit's ministry has been, is, and will be the same for everyone who seeks the Lord - St. Brendan and me included!!
