Having a Wee Chat with Mary

My sister Rebecca sent me this via email last week. I'm sure it's made the rounds since it was from 2002 but there is something quite magical about this picture. I think it's her hands. She's holding them out in a similar fashion to the way the statue of Mary is holding hers - palms open.

I like to think this little girl is having a real conversation with Mary. Perhaps talking about what she recalls of Heaven, or inquiring about how Mary's garden is growing.....The Celts would definitely call this a "thin place" - a place where Heaven meets Earth - for just a moment.....or am I just being silly?

What do you think they are conversing about?

That is awesome! Reminds me of Mary Barrett!

I also like the way the little girl is standing on tiptoe! the picture is poetry, that's for sure.

"So, I've tried and I've tried, but I'm still snitching cookies from the jar." Actually my granddaughter Avery could keep me in quotes for a long time. She has this exact same stance a lot. Have a great day!

Here’s my version…”how come big people make life so hard?"

"My parents still keep yelling 'no' at me! You've just got to intercede."

Why do I have to take a nap? Why can't I make my own hours? Why do I have to eat spinach? Why does my mother insist on making me wear ridiculous hair bows? Why can't I watch the Late Show?

Oh, I think she's probably sending messages to all the other little souls she hung out with heaven before she was sent down her. You know, sort of a celestial blog thing.

"So, I'm beautiful. I just can't help it."

She is saying, "Well, Mary, it's a long story, but it all started when I tried to feed my kitty some of my peas and carrots. My mom asked why I had my head under the table, and then she heard the meowing...and...well...as I said, it's a long story."

"You will never believe this. They want me to go poo in this BIG white pot!"
(This thanks to Teagan who is in the midst of potty training. She really wants nothing to do with it thank you!)
